How does a Reiki session work?

If you’ve never had a session before, it’s completely normal to wonder what it involves.

Here are the different steps.

Welcome: The session begins with a short conversation to understand what you’re going through and answer any questions you may have.

The Reiki session: You lie down comfortably. The practice involves placing my hands on different points of your body.

What you might feel: Everyone experiences it differently — deep relaxation, warmth, a slowing of the mind, sometimes emotions…

After the session: A short conversation helps you take in what you’ve just experienced. Many people leave feeling calm and light.

Throughout the session, you stay in control of your own pace. Some people prefer silence, others feel the need to talk — both are completely fine. You can also move, adjust your position, or stop the session at any time if needed. What matters most is that you feel safe and respected.

FAQ

Do I need to undress?

No. Sessions take place fully clothed, in comfortable clothing.

Can I talk during the session?

Yes. Some people prefer to stay silent, while others feel the need to talk things through. The session adapts to your pace.

Can I fall asleep?

Yes. This happens very often. Falling asleep simply shows that your body is deeply letting go.

What will I feel?

Everyone experiences the session differently. Some feel warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation, while others notice very little. All of these experiences are completely normal.

How long does a session last?

A session lasts about an hour, including welcome time, the practice itself, and a conversation at the end.

Why choose Rémy Gainet for a Reiki session?

I welcome each person with simplicity, without esoteric language or unrealistic promises. My approach is based on listening, respecting everyone’s own pace, and creating a space for relaxation where it becomes possible to release tension, quiet the mind, and find a little more calm in daily life. Sessions are available in Geneva as well as in La Muraz, in Haute-Savoie.
